Three Elementary Schools: Marshall Traditional School, Swanson Traditional School, and Kennedy STEM Academy

Project Goal: Create makerspaces in three elementary schools to give teachers a place to implement existing STEM curriculum.

ESSER funds were utilized to bring three full makerspaces to South Bend Community Schools. Each school wanted plenty of mobile storage to house all of the equipment and curriculum kits throughout the makerspace. Each school included 3D printing as well as coding and robotics. The leadership at South Bend Community Schools invested in a professional development package from 1st Maker Space to maximize the experience and fully prepare the teachers. As part of the overall vision for STEM, South Bend Community Schools enrolled three teachers in the Maker Manager Program to oversee the makerspaces at their respective schools. A teacher from Marshall Traditional School, Swanson Traditional School, and Kennedy STEM Academy completed the Maker Manager Program in May of 2022! The future is bright for these three elementary schools in South Bend, IN when it comes to STEM education!
