Fund Your Makerspace with the Indiana DOE STEM Integration Grant
The Indiana Department of Education (DOE) has released the STEM Integration Grant for the 2023–2024 school year, and your school can benefit from it. This grant is open to public school corporations, charter schools, and accredited non-public schools. It aims to boost student achievement in STEM learning experiences, and we want to make the application process as easy as possible for you. The deadline to apply is May 10th, so act NOW!
IDOE STEM Integration Grant Application Wording for 1st Maker Space (Sections 7, 8, and 13)
1st Maker Space provides customized support specific to Sections 7, 8, and 13
Section 7
Develop a makerspace in partnership with 1st Maker Space
Utilize research-based standards-aligned curriculum provided by 1st Maker Space
Support employability skills development and integrate various subjects
Section 8
Provide professional development with 1st Maker Space to develop STEM leaders and educators
Offer training on makerspace equipment and STEM pedagogy
Participate in the Maker Manager Program to learn and network with other educators
Section 13
Create a sustainability plan in consultation with 1st Maker Space
Plan for consumable materials replacement and additional professional development

Indiana Department of Education STEM Integration Grant Information
Aim: Improve student achievement and participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) across Indiana
Supports: Refining STEM pedagogy, developing STEM leaders and educators, increasing access to STEM courses, programs, and resources
Funded by: Indiana General Assembly's STEM Program Alignment Fund
Grant uses: K-12 training opportunities, administrator training, materials and curricular support, hands-on problem-solving, developing STEM leadership team, transdisciplinary STEM approach, implementing STEM pedagogy in non-STEM disciplines, and more
Grant amounts:
< 1,000 students: $25,000
1,000 - 1,999 students: $50,000
2,000 - 9,999 students: $75,000
10,000+ students: $100,000
Priorities for funding: Specific STEM training, development of STEM leaders, expansion of integrated STEM coursework and programs, strong alignment with Indiana’s Priorities for STEM Education
Eligibility: Open to public school corporations, charter schools, accredited non-public schools; must agree to grant assurances and submit a sustainability plan
Deadline for submission: 4 p.m. ET, Wednesday, May 10, 2023
Award administration details: Notifications on Friday, May 19, 2023; grant usage period from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024; semi-annual reporting required
