Learning Goals: Create a makerspace where students can read, write, think, create, and MAKE everyday!

Highlighted Products: Mobile Maker Storage Cart, Laser Cutter Bundle, VEX IQ Table, and Spike Prime LEGO Kits

The Indian Creek Elementary Makerspace is the first thing you see when you walk into this STEM Certified School. The makerspace used to be the gymnasium, and during the most recent renovation in 2016, Indian Creek Principal, Kevin Kemper, decided to go all-in on creating a community hub and makerspace where students could read, write, think, create, and MAKE everyday.

The Indian Creek Makerspace has a large central space with mobile tables that can be used in multiple ways. The space is also equipped with high-end equipment, including a 100 Watt Laser Cutter, two Dremel 3D45 3D Printers, a poster printer, and more. The storage furniture, including the Mobile Maker Storage Cart, enables open making to happen in the same space as targeted STEM activities. The Robotics Storage Cart from 1st Maker Space was originally created from the need to store multiple LEGO Mindstorms kits at Indian Creek, and it is a key feature of the makerspace as well. In addition to a flexible space, the Indian Creek Makerspace also is home to multiple STEM and Maker Kits that can be used inside of the space or transported to the classroom, including Dash and Dot Robots, KEVA Planks, Bloxels Game Builders, and Makedo. The Indian Creek Makerspace is primarily used as a drop-in makerspace, and any teacher can schedule a time to use this space. The Robotics and Design Thinking Special is located next door to the makerspace.
