Become an Intern

(2016 Camp Intern Positions Full)

  • Must be comfortable working with youth from 3rd-12th grade
  • University undergraduate and graduate students in Elementary or Secondary Education, Art Education, Science Education, Child Development, Engineering, Technology or a related major supplemented by relevant work experience; Or any other training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience with hands-on, interactive curriculum delivery methods
  • Must be comfortable with having a role of responsibility, working independently and exhibit initiative
  • Good communication skills and collaborative work ethic required
  • Respectful, appropriate behavior and dress
  • Punctuality and proper time management
  • Reporting to supervisors as required
  • Fulfilling all tasks as required


  • Coordinate schedule with FMS Staff
  • Model leadership, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn & innovate
  • Mentor and encourage creativity & exploration and hands-on learning
  • Assist in the supervision of youth in program and inform instructor of any disciplinary issues immediately
  • Attend a full week of training on 3-D printing including troubleshooting, Tinkercad design software and camp curriculum
  • Prepare computers, 3-D printers and all AV set-up at camp site along with site manager
  • Assist Camp Directors with the facilitation of the camp by helping students with 3D projects including troubleshooting problems, engaging youth in hands-on activities and games
  • Facilitate or assist in set-up, clean-up and preparation of camp
  • Provide own transportation to and from any camps
  • Develop a project related to a personal interest that is relevant to the internship and is agreed upon by FMS staff & university/college. Examples include reflective or historical article, curriculum project, assessment piece, or online instructional webinar
  • Completion of intern report at end of experience


  • Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm; some evening and weekend hours
  • Minimum of six-week internship; potential additional weeks
  • Pay:  $1200/6 weeks; $200 each additional week of camp
